The scene is a local department store. Maria Gomez looks puzzled as she holds a red sweater over her arm. We can see some of the design on the sweater, an animal with a red nose. She searches around the collar of the sweater and finds a price tag. The tag reads, "MSR: $35". Gomez looks up and sees a sign that says, "Halloween Clearance" with a topper that reads, "50% off" in the middle of the rack that the sweater was on.
Maria then takes the sweater off of her arm and lifts it up. We can clearly see that the animal on the print is Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. She holds the item to her chest, trying to gauge if it will fit her. Gomez decides that it will and places the sweater back over her arm. Gomez walks over to the closest register and places the sweater on the counter. A few seconds later, a sales clerk spots Gomez at the register and stops what he was doing and walks over to ring her up.
Clerk: Hello, how are you today?
Gomez just continues to stare at the clerk as he scans the Rudolf sweater. He looks to see what the final price is.
Clerk: That'll be thrity five dollars please.
A look of confusion appears across Maria's face.
Gomez: Sale?
Clerk: No, this is not on sale.
Gomez points to the sign that she saw when the sceen opened.
Clerk: Miss, that is for Halloween clothing. This is a Christmas sweater.
Gomez: Sale, on sale?
Gomez takes the sweater and starts to walk over to the sign again, waving for the clerk to follow her. The clerk, a little bit irritated, but trying not to show any sign of it, follows. He arrives at the area where the sign is. Gomez points to the sweater, then to the sign.
Gomez: Sale!
Clerk: Miss, this is not on any sale.
The clerk then undrlines the word "Halloween" on the sign.
Clerk: The sign says Halloween. This has Rudolf on it.
Gomez again points to the sign. She then makes a motion that the sweater was on the rack. Gomez is getting a little more animated with her motions. Now another worker has noticed the commotion and walks over.
Worker: What's wrong, Dave?
Dave: This woman insists that this Christmas sweater is on sale.
Worker: But the sign clearly says Halloween clearence.
Dave: I know. She keeps going on and on though.
Gomez looks at both men, not knowing what's being said.
Worker: Let me see if there's anyone here that speaks Spanish here today.
The worker wonders off to find someone who can translate. Meanwhile, Dave walks over to where the Christmas clothing is. The sign there reads, "All Christmas Clothing-Priced As Marked". He then points to it.
Dave: See, this is our Christmas section and the sign clearly states, "Price As Marked". The sweater you have is not on sale at this time.
Gomez points to the spot where she found the sweater on the Halloween rack, then to the clearence again. Dave just shakes his head in aggrivation. Gomez drops the sweater on the floor and walks out of the store. Shortly after, the other worker arraives with a manager as Dave picks up the sweater.
Worker: Where's the lady at?
Dave: She just left.
Manager: What was the fuss about?
Dave: The woman was trying to say that this sweater was on clearence.
Manager: But only the Halloween stuff is.
Dave: I tried to tell her that, but she just kept asking, "Sale?"
Manager: Well, it looks like the incident is over. Let's put this behind us and try to make our day.
The manager and the worker walk off as Dave puts the sweater back on the Christmas clothing rack.
